December meeting with Tony Sweet will be held on Friday December 14th

The December meeting has been moved from its regularly scheduled third Thursday to Friday, December 14 to accommodate a special two-day event with our featured speaker Tony Sweet.   The meeting will be held in the Crayola Room of the Banana Factory.  Tony will also have some of books available for sale at the meeting.  Then on Saturday, December 15, Tony will be leading a full-day workshop in Bethlehem.   The cost for the workshop is $175 for LVPC members and $200 for non-members.  If you are still interested, send an e-mail to Ed Vatza at ed@edvatza.com. If you have signed up for the workshop, we will be meeting at 7:45am in the Northampton Community College parking lot (old Beth Steel Office lot) on 3rd Street in Bethlehem.

You can read more about the presentation and workshop below.

Also, don’t forget that the club membership is now by calendar year.  So if you will be at the meeting on Friday, you can get your 2013 dues paid then to avoid a lapse in membership.  You won’t have to wait long in the new year for the club’s first event with a member photo shoot planned at Mercer Museum on January 5th.

The December meeting has been moved from its regularly scheduled third Thursday to Friday, December 14 to accommodate a special two-day event with our featured speaker Tony Sweet. Tony is a “Nikon Legend Behind the Lens”, a Lensbaby Guru and a charter member of Team Nik. Tony teaches and lectures throughout the U.S. and Canada as well as leading workshops across America, Canada and in Iceland. In addition, Tony has authored five books on fine art nature photography and four photography DVDs. The title of Tony’s presentation is “Portfolio Review and Elements of Design” – a 90-minute portfolio presentation with an emphasis on design elements and compositional techniques. Software optimization and various creative techniques will be discussed at length. Questions are encouraged throughout the presentation.

On Saturday, December 15, Tony will be leading a full-day workshop in Bethlehem. The exact location is yet to be finalized but the workshop is an on-site workshop and participants will definitely be out shooting. The workshop is designed to follow upon Tony’s presentation the previous evening. The emphasis will be on “design elements and compositional techniques” with an eye toward using various plug-ins in processing. The maximum number of participants in this one-day workshop will be topped at 20. The cost will be $175 for LVPC members and $200 for non-members. At this time we are taking registrations from both members and non-members. Non-members will be put on a separate “waiting” list until November 15. Registration from members will receive first consideration up until that date. If the Workshop fills by 11/15, others on the waiting list will be notified. If space remains, non-members will be admitted on a first come, first served basis.

Tony’s workshops fill up extremely fast so don’t wait. If you want to be part of this experience (it can be an early holiday gift for yourself), send an e-mail to Ed Vatza at ed@edvatza.com expressing your interest. I will only take new names by e-mail. Registration and payment information will follow once I receive your e-mail.
