Lehigh Valley Photography Club Juried Exhibition – ALLENTOWN ART MUSEUM

WHEN: Sunday, November 19 – Sunday, December 17, 2017

The Lehigh Valley Photography Club is proud to announce an exhibition at the Allentown Art Museum, November 19 through December 17, 2017. Our club will display up to 80 framed images for the event. What follows are important details regarding submission, selection, presentation guidelines, delivery, opening reception, and pickup. Please read carefully and note the dates and deadlines. SUBMISSION CRITERIA (Entry Deadline: Sunday, September 24)

  • Must be a Club member in good standing
  • Each up-to-date paid member may submit up to three images
  • Entry fee: $15.00
  • File size: 1080 pixels on the short side with a resolution of 92 pixels/inch
  • File format: JPG in sRGB color space
  • Digital editing and manipulation is allowed, however the final product must originate from your own photographic image
  • There is no theme for this exhibit. Tasteful nudes will be permitted

ENTRY DETAILS  

  • Entry Deadline: Sunday, September 24
  • Email your submissions to exhibits@lvphotographyclub.org
  • Each submission constitutes an agreement to use selected entries for promotional purposes. If you do NOT want your images used, you must state that at the time of your submission

Required information with EACH entry

  • File name for each submitted image should follow this convention: last name_first name_titleofwork (no spaces in filename)   Example: smith_john_winningphoto
  • Photographer
  • Title of work
  • Phone number
  • Contact email
  • Subject line: AAM Exhibition

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:Five factors will be considered in reviewing photo entries

  • Originality
  • Technical Excellence
  • Composition
  • Artistic Merit
  • Overall Impact

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE

  • Members will be notified of acceptance by October 8, and will receive necessary forms with further details and information
  • Down-selecting of images will be done by the exhibition committee

JUDGING

  • Final judging will be done by a panel of non-members
  • Awards: First, Second, Third, and two Honorable Mentions

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

  • Outside frame dimensions cannot be smaller than 16” x 20” [or 320 sq. inches] or largerthan 24″ x 36″ (or 864 sq. inches)
  • Minimum printed image size: 8″ x 10″
  • All photos must be matted and framed with glass or Plexiglas, with the exception of images printed on canvas, acrylic or metal. Frames must be either metal or wood
  • No plastic, clip, poster, Gatorboard or similar frames will be allowed. Damaged frames, cracked or broken glass or poorly cut mats, etc. will not be shown unless corrected and resubmitted before the public opening
  • Mats must be of at least 4-ply thickness and neutral shades, such as white, ivory, grays, or black. Color is only allowed in the mat core or inside reveal of double mats
  • Minimum 2″ wide mat on all sides is recommended
  • All pieces must be wired and ready to hang

DELIVERY: Friday, November 17 between 9:00 AM and 1:00PM

  • Penn Street entrance of the museum (behind Museum)
  • Arrangements can be made in advance for LVPC Exhibition Committee members to deliver your work if you are unable to do so. More information will follow

HANGING: Saturday, November 18, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

  • Volunteers are needed to assist with hanging

 RECEPTION: Sunday, November 19, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

  • Family and friends are welcome to attend
  • Volunteers are needed to set up before and clean up after the reception

 PICK-UP: Sunday, December 17 between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM

  • Monday, December 18 between 12:30 AM and 2:30 PM
  • Arrangements can be made in advance for LVPC Exhibition Committee members to pick up your work if you are unable to do so. More information will follow
