The Lehigh Valley Photography Club is proud to announce an exhibition at the Allentown Art Museum, November 19 through December 17, 2017. Our club will display up to 80 framed images for the event. What follows are important details regarding submission, selection, presentation guidelines, delivery, opening reception, and pickup. Please read carefully and note the dates and deadlines. SUBMISSION CRITERIA (Entry Deadline: Sunday, September 24)

  • Must be a Club member in good standing
  • Each up-to-date paid member may submit up to three images
  • Entry fee: $15.00
  • File size: 1080 pixels on the short side with a resolution of 92 pixels/inch
  • File format: JPG in sRGB color space
  • Digital editing and manipulation is allowed, however the final product must originate from your own photographic image
  • There is no theme for this exhibit. Tasteful nudes will be permitted

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:Five factors will be considered in reviewing photo entries

  • Originality
  • Technical Excellence
  • Composition
  • Artistic Merit

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE

  • Members will be notified of acceptance by October 8, and will receive necessary forms with further details and information
  • Down-selecting of images will be done by the exhibition committee

JUDGING

  • Final judging will be done by a panel of non-members
  • Awards: First, Second, Third, and two Honorable Mentions

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

  • Outside frame dimensions cannot be smaller than 16” x 20” [or 320 sq. inches] or largerthan 24″ x 36″ (or 864 sq. inches)
  • Minimum printed image size: 8″ x 10″
  • All photos must be matted and framed with glass or Plexiglas, with the exception of images printed on canvas, acrylic or metal. Frames must be either metal or wood
  • No plastic, clip, poster, Gatorboard or similar frames will be allowed. Damaged frames, cracked or broken glass or poorly cut mats, etc. will not be shown unless corrected and resubmitted before the public opening
  • Mats must be of at least 4-ply thickness and neutral shades, such as white, ivory, grays, or black. Color is only allowed in the mat core or inside reveal of double mats
  • Minimum 2″ wide mat on all sides is recommended
  • All pieces must be wired and ready to hang

DELIVERY: Friday, November 17 between 9:00 AM and 1:00PM

  • Penn Street entrance of the museum (behind Museum)
  • Arrangements can be made in advance for LVPC Exhibition Committee members to deliver your work if you are unable to do so. More information will follow

HANGING: Saturday, November 18, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

  • Volunteers are needed to assist with hanging

 RECEPTION: Sunday, November 19, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

  • Family and friends are welcome to attend
  • Volunteers are needed to set up before and clean up after the reception

 PICK-UP: Sunday, December 17 between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM

  • Monday, December 18 between 12:30 AM and 2:30 PM

Submission Deadline: Midnight, Sunday, November 13, 2016

Are you an LVPC member who has exhibited in juried events through the club, ArtsQuest or InVision?
If so, you are being invited to enter your previously shown works for a week-long Lehigh Valley Photography Club exhibit, “The Best of Show—Lehigh Valley Photography Club Through the Years,” opening Monday, December 5, 2016 and closing Saturday, December 10th, 2016.
LVPC member and past board member Ruth Dennison has recently accepted a position as Curator for the Saucon Conservancy Gallery in the Michael Heller Home in Hellertown and needs 20-30 quality pieces within a very short timeframe. She has presented the club with this exhibit opportunity that will hopefully grow into broader events open to the entire membership in the future.
 
Number of entries permitted: 1 to 2 per paid member of LVPC.
 Entry requirements:
·      Only pieces that have previously been juried and shown will be accepted for this exhibit
·      Only current paid members of LVPC are eligible to enter
How to enter: Send an e-mail to Michael Heller Gallery Curator Ruth Dennison at ruth@ruthdennisonrn.com by midnight on Sunday, November 13, 2016 with the following information:
  • Your name and address
  • The title of your work(s)
  • A jpg file of each entry
  • The sale price or Not for sale (NFS) status
  • Name of gallery and show that your work was presented (e.g., 2014 InVision Photo Festival, Banana Factory)
Notification: Notification of participation in the show will be made via e-mail by November 16, 2016. Participation will be on a first-come basis with notification. All efforts will be made to accept quality framed work until the gallery space is filled. There is no guarantee that all pieces will be accepted.
 
Theme & Framing guidelines:
  • There is no theme requirement
  • Nudes are not permitted for this show
  • All pieces must be framed and wired. (No saw tooth hangers are     allowed.)
Delivery deadlines: 
•         Thursday, November 17, 2016 before or after the LVPC meeting. (Ruth will be available at 6:30 PM before the meeting.)
•         Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Conservancy Gallery at Michael Heller Gallery, Water Street, Hellertown, PA.  This will be the final drop off of previously juried works accepted or notified from 9am to noon.
 
 Fees, Commission & Prizes: 
  • There are no fees for entry, but a 35% commission fee of the sale price before taxes will be taken for each sale
  • Promotion and reception costs are being generously provided by the Saucon Conservancy Michael Heller Gallery
  • Best in Show ribbons will be presented by the Saucon Conservancy Board.
Reception: Monday, December 5, 2016 from 7 PM to 9 PM, and is open to all LVPC members in good standing, artists, and their families and friends, as well as members of the Conservancy. In the case of inclement weather, the event will take place Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
Artwork pick up: Artwork must be picked up on Sunday, December 12, 2016 from 9:00 AM to noon, unless other arrangements have been made.

  • Image cannot have previously been exhibited in any other LVPC exhibit.

***DELIVERY:   It has been arranged that you may drop off your framed work at the October 20th club meeting.  Simply bring it to the Banana Factory and it will be transported to the Art Establishment.  If you use this option, be sure to attach your entry form to the back of your work.   In order to provide safe transport to the venue, please make sure your work is wrapped, and/or cover the glass with a piece of cardboard.   If you cannot attend the meeting, you may still drop off your work at the Art Establishment per the original schedule:

  • All pieces must be wired and ready to hang.
  • Frames must be a simple style of sturdy metal or wood. No plastic, clip, poster or similar frames will be allowed. Damaged frames, cracked or broken glass or poorly cut mats, etc. will not be accepted/shown unless corrected and resubmitted before the public opening.
  • A copy of the registration form must be attached to the back upper left of the work. (Registration forms will be sent with acceptance letter and also available at drop-off.)

Moravian Gallery Show Information

This is located on Moravian’s North Campus off Elizabeth Ave. See the campus map at the bottom of this post.
DATES of EXHIBIT:  July 7th through Aug. 17th
OPENING RECEPTION: Thurs. July 16th 5-8pm.  A $5 donation is requested, not required, to help defer the costs of the reception, since we are required to use the caterer at Moravian College.
Drop off work and installation: Tuesday, July 7th 9am – 1pm (drop off), 1-4pm (installation). Volunteers needed!
****PICKUP – Monday, Aug. 17th. from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

GUIDELINES FOR THE LVPC MORAVIAN GALLERY EXHIBITION

Here are some guidelines to keep in mind as you complete your framing for the exhibit.
I am available for your framing needs/questions and have some frames on hand and regular glass at a really good price!
All photos must be matted and framed with glass or plexiglass, with the exception of images printed on canvas or metal, etc.
Frames should be either metal or wood. All pieces must be wired and ready to hang. Please, no plastic, clip, poster or similar frames that doesn’t have sufficient/sturdy wiring on the back.
Also, damaged frames, poorly cut mats, etc. will not be shown unless corrected and resubmitted before public opening.
Mats must be at least 4 ply thickness. (normal mat thickness) Please keep to neutral shades, such as white, grays or black. You can use a color as an inside “reveal” on a double mat.
If you are planning to offer your piece for sale, please remember that the Lehigh Valley Photography Club will be retaining a 20% commission based on the selling price.  Take that into consideration when setting the price.  You are not required to sell your image.  If it is not for sale, simply mark it NFS (not for sale).

Allentown Art Museum Show Admission

Attention Members.  We have some information to pass on to you with regard to admission prices for the Art Museum.  While they understand that our work is on display, they cannot grant limited access to just the Community Gallery space while at the museum. The Allentown Art Museum is unable to offer free admission to the photography club members except on Sundays and Thursday evenings.  If you want free admission, you must go on Sundays and/or Thursday evenings.  Otherwise, you will have to pay their regular admission prices.

Allentown Art Museum Call For Volunteers – Hanging and Reception

Volunteers are needed for the delivery and hanging of club images, anytime during the hours of:
Thursday 11/13, 8:45 – 11:00AM and 12:00- 4:00PM.
Friday 11/14, 10:00AM – 2:00PM  (If needed)
Volunteers are also needed for the Gallery Opening Reception
Sunday 11/16: 12:00 – 3:30PM
Public reception time: 1:00-3:00PM
The following is a list of items that the LVPC will be responsible for bringing.  Multiple people can bring the same items so that no one person is responsible for a large quantity of any item.  The reception starts at 1:00 pm.  If possible, we would like most of the items before hand in order to set the table. Serving dishes will be provided for fruit, desserts etc.
  • Punch: apple juice, sparkling water, cranberry juice, ginger ale (Each person could bring 1 or 2).
  • 2 bags of ice
  • Water
  • Fruit: grapes, kiwi, pineapple, etc.
  • Desserts/Cookies: homemade or bought.

Allentown Art Museum Gallery Event

The Lehigh Valley Photography Club and Hillcrest Camera Club will have a collaborative exhibition at the Allentown Art Museum from November 15 through December 18, 2014. Each club will provide 40 framed images to the event. While the framing and mounting guidelines will be the same for both clubs, the selection process for each club may be slightly different.  Click the link below to see the full information about the submission guidelines as they pertain to the Lehigh Valley Photography Club.  For those images that are selected, the display guidelines are outlined as well.  Please carefully note the dates and deadlines. Bethlehem City Hall Rotunda Gallery Show

The LVPC gallery show at the Bethlehem Rotunda runs from September 1 – 29, 2014.  Removal of the pieces is planned for Tuesday September 30.

Pick up from the Rotunda Exhibit. 11-2:30pm.

If you can’t make it for pick up, make arrangements with someone to do so.  Contact Janet Dean if you wish to have her take your photo home for pickup at a later time.
