PSA PID Competition Guidelines

Our club is newly entering the Projected Image Division (PID) competition of Photographic Society of America (PSA) Inter-Club competitions for 2018-2019. It is open to all paid LVPC members. Judy Reinford is serving as our PSA Club Rep & Competition Chairperson.

Member Deadlines

There are 4 competition rounds. LVPC Member deadlines and submission details can be found on the Competition Page and on the Calendar.

PSA PID Definition

The PID competition is an open division that accepts a broad range of photographic subjects and resulting images.  The images can be altered in post processing and creatively altered. Subjects are generally unlimited and can include nature, abstract, sports, landscapes, portraits, macro photography, studio set composed images, etc.

The photographs will be digital only (traditional film images scanned into digital format or direct from digital cameras) and will meet PSA’s general requirements for photographs entered into exhibitions. (The photographic work must be the maker’s, commercial clip art is not allowed, etc.) The category is General and includes Alterations.

PID Entry Highlights

  • Submissions: Up to three images can be entered per round and must be submitted by midnight on the Due Date. Submission information is on the Competition Page. The club will submit six images for each round. Only one image per member is allowed in each round.
  • Format & size: JPG only with sRGB color space. Resize your horizontal images to 1024 pixels wide and your vertical images to 768 pixels high. Do not exceed 1.7 MB in file size.
  • Filenames: Should include your first and last name and title: Firstname_Lastname_Title. Titles of photos that make it through LVPC judging will be read aloud during PSA judging, so make them descriptive and stay away from “cute” titles. “Micronesian Kingfisher” is better than “Orange and Blue Bird.”
  • Camera type: Photos may be taken digitally, or on film and scanned
  • Reprint permission: By entering the contest, you are agreeing to give permission to feature your photo with credit on our website, closed Facebook group, club e-mail messages and/ or press releases. PSA scores for your work will be shared with fellow club members and on the club website. LVPC will notify photographers of selected images with a request for written approval that PSA may display your images on their website if chosen for recognition and award.
