 Hugh Moore Park Canal Museum

2750 Hugh Moore Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042

While Hugh Moore Park Canal Museum may not be on anybody’s “Bucket-List” for must-stop photo locations, there is plenty to do there to provide a pleasant afternoon.  It is located on the Lehigh River between Rt. 33 and Easton.  The trickiest part is crossing a one-lane bridge over the Lehigh River to enter the park.  Once across there is plenty of parking just as you exit the bridge, and to the south, closer to the Canal Museum.  There are porta-potties in the parking lots, and public bathrooms at the museum when it is open.  Check the link to the canal museum for operating hours.  I did not go into the museum, but please leave comments if you have.

There are many trails along the river and canal, both paved and unpaved.  This park is actually on the D&L Trail running between Allentown and Easton.  In addition to the canal boat and museum, there are bridges, the river and canal, machinery from deserted Loches, sculptures, foliage, flowers, and wildlife that can be photographed.  You will definitely want to bring a wide-angle lens.  If you feel lucky, carry along a telephoto lens in case you come across any deer or other wildlife.

The park is easy to get to, and the combination of the hiking and photographic opportunities make it a worthwhile trip.
