Hopewell Furnace Photo Shoot
Join your fellow club members for a photo shoot
at the Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site! This 883-acre park near Elverson, PA is a restoration of an important industrial facility that operated from 1771 to 1883. Analogous to cotton plantations in the antebellum South, the original Hopewell Furnace complex was a self-contained "iron plantation": workers lived on the site and produced iron products using a blast furnace, which burned charcoal made from the wood of nearby forests. Fourteen structures from the original site have been restored, including the blast furnace and related machinery, the water wheel, the blacksmith's shop, the barn, the ironmaster's house, several workers' houses, and the company store.
This is a live, in-person event.
All registrants must comply with the LVPC Member’s Liability Waiver and Event Agreement. You will have to accept the terms of this Agreement during the registration process; these terms can be reviewed by clicking
here
.
Some restrictions at the site are currently in effect.
The Visitor Center is closed, but an outdoor visitor contact station is open from 9 AM to 5 PM. There is no admission fee. Parking lots, restrooms, water stations, and many historic buildings are also open during those hours, but no food or snacks are available (bring your own). Photography is permitted, including tripods, as long it doesn't interfere with other visitors. Grounds are open from dawn until dusk. There is some chance the Visitor Center will open by early August.
We will meet outside the Visitor Center adjacent to the parking lot at 9:00 AM,
then members can walk around as they choose. Click
