Bushkill Falls is one of Pennsylvanias most famous scenic attractions. It is a series of eight waterfalls, located deep in the wooded Pocono Mountains. It is accessible through a network of hiking trails and bridges which afford fabulous views of the falls and the surrounding forest. It is a one and one half hour trip from Allentown.
The falls open at 9 and we will meet at the large pavilion in front of the ticket entrance at 9:30. There are multiple trails of varying difficulty and length. How challenging a trail is varies by individual, but even the longest trail will be accessible to many, and the shortest is quite flat yet still has photographic possibilities. The trails are well marked and have points of convergence so we will run into one another whether we come early, meet at 10:00, or arrive later.
8 Tips to Remember
1. There's a $15.00 entry fee ($14.00 for those over 61).
2. Plan ahead. We enter the falls at the top, so we have to climb up to leave.
3. Wear good shoes. The ground is uneven, but there are stairs everywhere.
4. It is cooler up there - dress appropriately.
5. You cannot re-enter, so remember all your gear.
6. Tripods are permitted, just don't block the path (some parts are narrow).
7. There is plenty of parking.
8. There is a food concession at the falls with a very limited menu. It's outside the trail system, so bring snacks and water in with you.
