About this event
Creative Wildflower Photography
virtual workshop presented by LVPC Member Karen Campbell
Wednesday June 24, at 7:00 PM ET
Meadows (and prairies) get their diversity from forbs that include some amazing, and showy wildflowers amongst their many grasses. In this webinar, Karen will explore various creative approaches to photograph these expansive landscapes. She'll also address their challenges including their "messy" appearance and outdoor elements like wind and lighting. Creative approaches range from broader scenes usings wide angle lenses, to telephoto lenses to obtain shoot-through vignettes, to detailed macro flower captures, abstracts to use the wind, and additional elements including pollinators and water droplets.
You will learn:
• Selecting wildflowers for amazing shots
• Avoiding visual distractions
• Overcoming wind, lighting, and depth of field challenges
• Creative and stylistic approaches for creating unique images
Registrants to this webinar will have the opportunity to participate in a public photography meet-up event on July 18th at Louise Moore Park, sponsored by Northampton County Parks as part of Wildflower Week July 12-19th (details to follow). There will be daily events during Wildflower Week to engage the community in a newly converted 7 acre wildflower meadow including an iNaturalist Bioblitz and biodiversity projects.
