David DesRochers — Composition in Photography

December 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Photography is an art form and the elements of composition are like the paints on an artist’s palette. Understanding these elements and knowing how to apply them effectively can be the difference between taking a snapshot and creating a work of art. In addition to discussing the basic “rules of composition,” David will guide you through the process of blending compositional elements, such as light, color, and texture and you will have a better understanding of what it takes to create a compelling photograph.

Biography

David’s passion for nature photography was sparked by a trip to Glacier National Park in the summer of 2000. Since then, he and his wife Cathy have traveled the world to witness and photograph the wonders of nature.

David is a member of the North American Nature Photography Association and has written several articles for Nature Photographer magazine. He has been presenting his programs for over 15 years and has been a featured speaker at photography and nature events including the New England Camera Club Council Annual Conference, New Jersey Audubon’s Birding Festival, and the New York City Sierra Club. David has been teaching photography for The New Jersey Audubon Society’s digital photography workshop series and is the 2014 recipient of the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs Citation.

David’s work is represented by Animals Animals/Earth Scenes, a rights-managed stock photography agency with over one million images encompassing all things nature, and his photos have appeared in several books and magazines.
