Macro Boot Camp with Mike Moats (Day 2) – SOLD OUT

Cost: $160/person – The price is an exclusive price for Lehigh Valley Photography Club members with dues paid. Sign-up is on a first come, first serve basis based on Paypal payment or check delivery date. Please note that in mid-February, if the event is not sold out, we will open up attendance to non-club members at a cost of $175/person. This workshop with Mike Moats is an excellent value as it is normally offered to sell-out crowds at locations around the country for $199/person.

Maximum Class Size: Limited to 20 Participants Maximum

Time:   THIS IS A TWO DAY WORKSHOP: Saturday,  March 17, 2018 at 9:30am to 4pm  and Sunday, March 18 at 9:30am to 1:30pm.

Location:  NOTE: THIS IS A CHANGE OF VENUE. WE ARE NOW HAVING The workshop will be held at the Art Establishment in Font Hill. The address is 945 Broadway, Fountain Hill, PA 18015

Topics to be covered:

  • Cameras / Lenses / Tripods / Heads / Accessories.
  • Controlling light with diffusers, reflectors, and LED lights / working with natural lighting.
  • Depth of Field
    • How to control depth of field with f/stops and special techniques, to get the subject all in focus and blur out the backgrounds.
  • Composition
    • Learn how to compose properly / finding character in nature / elements of design / textures / contrast / lines / light / visual weight / learning to work camera angles for blurred backgrounds / Two Subject Compositions / Finding Character.
  • Finding Good Subject Matter
    • Learn when, where, and how to find good subjects through out the four seasons. How to shoot macro indoors.
  • Post Processing
    • Learn Mike’s post processing techniques using photoshop, Smart Photo Editor, Nik Software, and Topaz software programs.

Bring your camera, macro lens, and tripod. We will have numerous workshop tables set up and Mike will have lots of things to shoot.

About Mike:

Mike Moats is an award-winning, professional macro photographer from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Mike’s love of photography, which started out as a hobby in 2001, has since evolved into a full-time business. In addition to creating his own images, Mike added Macro Boot Camps into the mix in 2006 and also has an online Macro Photo Club to assist photographers with their macro goals.

Recruited as a member of the Fuji Pro Talent Team in 2006, Mike is also honored to be a Tamron Image Master, and a Vanguard Pro. He has won numerous local, national, and international awards. Mike’s first book, Tiny Landscapes, was released in 2008, and his images and how-to articles have been published in various magazines, including Outdoor PhotographerNature’s Best PhotographyShutterbugPC PhotoNature PhotographerPhoto LifeWhisper in the Woods, and Michigan Fish and Game Finder; in photography collections such as the North American Nature Photography Association’s (NANPA’s) Expressions book and the Pure Michigan tourism companion; and in various corporate collateral, including on the Tamron USA blog and in Fujifilm newsletters.
