Workshops and Shoots

Shoot in great locations, practice technique, and learn new skills in an informal setting. Participating in these Lehigh Valley Photography Club field activities is a great way to meet fellow club members.

Workshops are LIMITED TO DUES PAID MEMBERS OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB. Some workshops may include a fee due to instructor cost or location. When attendance is limited, spaces will be filled in order of paid registration.


Previous Workshops and Shoots

  • Oct 20, 2018 – Cost Effective Lighting for Portraits Workshop led by Michael Barone  – Participants learned to shoot studio quality portraits with only one light and a reflector. 
  • October 13, 2018 – Photographing Dahlias! FREE Meetup for members. 
  • October 6, 2018 – Sunset Shoot Meetup at the Hoover-Mason TrestleFREE Meetup for members. 
  • September 20, 2018 – Image Review Session with Versace – Our evening speaker and Nikon Ambassador Vincent Versace provided critique, review, and constructive evaluation of member images in an afternoon workshop.
  • September 20, 2018 – Photo Shoot – Sunrise at Blast Furnace, SOLD OUT. 
  • April 27, 2018 – Ellis Island Hardhat Workshop – This behind the scenes exclusive workshop gave LVPC access to shoot the well known parts of Ellis Island as well as several, more decaying structures not open to the public.
  • March 17-18, 2018 – Macro Workshop with Mike Moats – This two day indoor workshop included lecture and shooting opportunities led by the well renown macro photographer Mike Moats.
  • March 9, 2018 – Lakota Wolf Preserve – In conjunction with Tamron and with Dan’s Camera City, the club had a full day workshop photographing wolves, bobcats and foxes following a 1 hour presentation on proper use of telephoto lens and composition.
  • December 1, 2017 – Conowingo Bald Eagle Meet Up – The club organized a trip to Conowingo Dam to photograph bald eagles and other birds. We partnered with Sigma to provide a number of ‘loaner’ telephoto lens (Canon and Nikon mounts) for members to use during this event.
  • October 7 & 14, 2017 – Water in Motion Workshop – This workshop, led by Bob Becker, was a two part offering. Part One portion was classroom based to teach the basics of using slow shutter speed to capture motion held at Dan’s Camera. Part Two was a field trip to a local stream/creek to capture the movement of the water and focus on composition using the static subjects and flowing water.
