Why It’s Time to Remember Wildlife Through Photography
SPECIAL MEETING: Note the Saturday morning start time.
Saturday, October 24, at 10:00 AM ET
In this presentation, Margot Raggett MBE shares the remarkable journey behind the creation of the Remembering Wildlife series — from a single idea born out of the elephant poaching crisis to a global collaborative project involving many of the world’s leading wildlife photographers. She recounts how the books are produced, the challenges of coordinating photographers across continents, and what she has learned first-hand from conservationists working on the front lines to protect endangered species.
Illustrated with powerful images from both her own photography and standout photographs from across the series, Margot explores the role photography can play in conservation — not just documenting wildlife but changing how people feel about it. Her talk is inspiring, thought-provoking and hopeful, offering audiences a deeper understanding of today’s conservation challenges while demonstrating how storytelling and imagery can motivate real-world impact. Proceeds from book sales at her talks help support ongoing conservation projects around the world.
Biography:
Margot Raggett MBE is a British wildlife photographer, conservation storyteller and founder of the international Remembering Wildlife book series. After an 18-year career in corporate communications — culminating as CEO of one of the UK’s leading PR agencies — she left the corporate world to pursue wildlife photography and conservation full-time.
In 2016, following the devastating poaching crisis affecting African elephants, Margot founded Remembering Wildlife, a collaborative publishing project bringing together many of the world’s leading wildlife photographers to raise funds and awareness for endangered species. The series has since produced multiple award-winning books — including Remembering Elephants, Remembering Rhinos, Remembering Lions, Remembering Great Apes, Remembering Cheetahs and Remembering Tigers — and has raised over $1.6 million for conservation projects in more than 35 countries.
Margot’s work focuses not only on creating compelling wildlife imagery, but on using photography as a tool for conservation impact — connecting audiences emotionally with species they may never see in the wild and turning admiration into action.
In recognition of her contribution to conservation, she was appointed MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II.
She travels extensively to photograph wildlife and to support field conservation projects and speaks internationally about the power of photography to make a difference.
